Raymond J. Averna is the principal in the law office of Raymond J. Averna, P.C. Mr. Averna concentrates his practice in corporate and business transactions, commercial and residential real estate, estate administration and estate planning.
Mr. Averna has extensive legal experience in corporate and commercial transactions, with an emphasis in manufacturing and distribution. He has represented multi-national, national and regional companies across such diverse industries as semiconductors, aerospace, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, nutritional supplements, food and beverage, HVAC and construction. He has negotiated business transactions and developed effective business and legal strategies addressing a wide array of issues from liability matters to negotiating financial relationships. As a trusted business advisor, he has provided strategic advice and counsel to senior corporate managers on supply and distribution relationships, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, licensing, federal and foreign regulatory compliance, government contracts, real estate sales and acquisitions, and general corporate and business matters.
Mr. Averna received a B.S. in Finance from St. John's University in 1982. He received a J.D. from St. John's University School of Law in 1985. While in law school, Mr. Averna received the Best Brief Writer Award in the school’s rigorous moot court program, ranking 1st among 150 competitors. He was elected Associate Justice to the Moot Court Executive Board, where he represented St. John’s School of Law in the Irving Kaufman Securities Law Moot Court Competition and the National Moot Court Competition, winning Semi-Finalist in both competitions.
Mr. Averna received an M.B.A. in Finance from New York University, Leonard Stern School of Business in 2000.
Mr. Averna is admitted to practice in the State of New York, the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and Federal Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court.
Mr. Averna is a member of the New York State Bar Association. He is a member of the Nassau County Bar Association, where he currently serves on the Corporate Law Committee and Municipal Law Committee.
Mr. Averna serves his community as an active member of various professional, civic and political organizations. Mr. Averna currently serves as Commissioner of the Massapequa Water District. He is a Past President of the Nassau Suffolk Water Commissioners Association, the Columbian Lawyers Association of Nassau County, the Kiwanis Club of Massapequa and the Historical Society of the Massapequas. He is also a member of the Nassau Lawyers Association, the Catholic Lawyers Guild of Nassau County, and the St. John’s University School of Law Alumni Association.
Prior to founding the firm, Mr. Averna was a partner in a corporate and commercial boutique law firm located in Garden City, New York.
